Rural Markets offer immense potential for product and services business in India. Be it Gadgets, Electronics, High End Upholstery or 4-Wheeler, rural markets no way lesser than their urban counter parts in spendings.
There are primarily two reasons for this. One is increase in income levels from agriculture and allied industries because of increased opportunities. The other one is changed socio-economic situation because of many people coming into service industry and thus increasing the standard of living of the family. For example, in AP and Telangana, the software boom has facilitated many of the youngsters to get into lucrative jobs in India and abroad helping their parents to settle down economically well. This has changed the whole dynamics of rural spending patterns.
Today, you can see Mercedes or OLED TV or Fully Automated Homes in rural areas. This is the reason, marketers are after the rural markets, as the urban markets are near saturation.
